Implant with My Dental Ireland

Hey everyone ,

In today’s post we are talking all things teeth. I know teeth of all things. But for those who don’t follow me on snapchat and instagram, won’t have a clue what I’m talking about.

Anyhow since a very young age I have always had a massive fear of dentists. I still remember going to the public dentist while in primary school, having fillings done and passing out after. I’ve had some horrible experiences throughout the years and I think these made my anxiety a lot worse.

I wasn’t blessed with the most perfect smile, so I had braces when I was 14/15. Anytime I felt a pain, I would delay the dentist for ages, because of my fear. This left me with even more problems, so much so I had to have some of my teeth removed as they where not treatable.

One tooth in particular was one of my side teeth. One which you can see when I talk, smile, laugh etc. Again I had it removed 4/5 years ago and just couldn’t bring myself having anything done to it because of my fear. Even for my wedding day and thats the biggest day of your life. I went to get opinions , but never went any further because of fear.

After a lot of recommendations on social media , I opted to go for a consultation with My Dental Ireland. I had an appointment with Dr. Ana who I honestly felt so comfortable with from the start. She was extremely calm and explained everything in detail. Step by step.

First appointment was a scan to check the area , check the bone and that I was suitable for a Dental implant.

After all the examinations she went through everything and explained what would happened at the first surgery. Ana explained that I needed a bone graft which is when your jawbone isn’t thick enough or is too soft, you may need bone grafting.  Artificial bone was used.

First Surgery

First surgery I honestly was petrified but once I was numb I honestly could not feel a thing. I don’t want to go into to much detail about what happens incase some people are squeamish but all in all I was done in a hour.

I was put on antibiotics just in case of infection but I thankfully didn’t get any infections. I also had some stitches in, which had to be removed 14 days later.

Pain wise after to be honest was very little , which is not what I expected. The only thing I did feel was pressure in my jaw. There was no need for me to take any painkillers or anything.

Once the metal implant  is placed in your jawbone the healing process begins . During this process, the jawbone grows into and unites with the surface of the dental implant. This can take several months, but is key to providing a good base for your new artificial tooth.

I am back again in September for a check up more scans and moulds to be taken and hopefully by the end of September we can go ahead with the second surgery. I will keep you all updated as I know loads of you are interested in having it done.

I honestly could not recommend My Dental in Cherrywood enough the are so understanding and patient which I think is great. I never feel under pressure or rushed. They take their time and literally explain everything step by step. If you have an queries or questions or you would like to book for a consult with My Dental you can do here.
